I Will Help You

I am the Lord your God, who holds your right hand, and I tell you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’ … My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
Isaiah 41:13 (NCV) Psalm 121:2 (NKJV)

Dear Ones: I will help you! Was the Lord’s promise to Israel under the Old Covenant. The psalmist who wrote this psalm of ascent confirmed God’s promise to help Israel in troublous times. Today, Christians are under the New Covenant: a better covenant certified by the Blood of Christ. Therefore, we are assured that He will help us in our hour of need, too.

Fear Not–I will Help You

Throughout the Scriptures, the Lord tells His people to “fear not.” The implication is that He is with us and is far more powerful than those who are attacking us. He is in essence saying, “Trust Me, I have this situation in hand.” In fact, Paul made it perfectly clear in 2 Timothy 1:7, NLT, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” When we combine this statement with 1 John 4:18, AMP, greater revelation is released to us. “There is no fear in love [dread does not exist]. But perfect (complete, full-grown) love drives out fear, because fear involves [the expectation of divine] punishment, so the one who is afraid [of God’s judgment] is not perfected in love [has not grown into a sufficient understanding of God’s love].”

When the Lord says, “I will help you,” He has no ulterior motive other than to overtly release His love to you. Fear is a dark force whose goal is to destroy your faith and trust in the Lord as your Redeemer and Savior. God’s perfect love drives out fear. His perfect flawless, unstoppable love is filled with His goodness (glory). Like a protective parent, He grabs hold of your right hand and walks you through the trials of your current circumstances.

Hear the word of the Lord today, “I will help you, so do not fear, little lamb. My perfect love will keep you and yours in these dark times.” He will not turn loose of your hand even in the middle of the storm. His grip will not fail, cannot fail. He is your powerful Father Who loves you. Meditate on these things today and enjoy being His child. I bless you in Jesus’ name.
